Letter from Tovey Blake, Founder, Online Operational Analyst, A Women Building a Legacy
My Personal Message to Movement Story
I am a proud black female entrepreneur that has been successfully running my business for over 7+ years.
For years I worked 16-18 hours a day, did not take any vacations, and had to say no to many family and friend events to create a better life for my wonderful daughter.
I thought working relentlessly and tirelessly like this was normal in building a business.
In 2019, I became a bi-coastal caregiver to my mom aka “Sweet Girl” – she then was diagnosed with cancer in the middle of the pandemic.
This moment was the turning point. I couldn’t leave my job and didn’t want to close the business that I had put so much time into building.
I had to make some tough decisions. Luckily, I was able to take a few precious months off to care for my mom until her very last moments. I feel so blessed that I was able to be in the position to do that.
Initially, I did a few things that I thought would just free up my time, which it did, but inadvertently, it accelerated the growth of my business as well.
Without making 2 significant transformations, I would have continued slaving away, living with regrets, and not being able to share my story with you today.
